The SurCode for DTS-HD Encoder, by Minnetonka Audio Software, creates a wide variety of .dtshd encode types, from lossless DTS-HD Master Audio^™ found on hundreds of commercial Blu-ray Disc titles, to lower bit rate DTS Express^™, a widely used Bonus View and BD-Live codec. It encodes DTS-HD High Resolution Audio^™ at sample rates of 48 kHz and up to 6.1 channels as well as DTS Digital Surround^™, DTS 96/24^™, and DTS-ES^™ for Blu-ray Disc.

Since DTS support is mandatory on Blu-ray Disc players, DTS-HD can be used as the sole audio codec, ensuring the highest quality audio for your Blu-ray Disc.

Every DTS-HD stream is backward-compatible with all DTS decoders, providing the best listening experience with one stream. No matter how you hear it back - whether listening on a 7.1 surround sound home theater system, stereo TV, or laptop - no audio elements are lost. From a production perspective, this means one encode will satisfy every listening situation. One stream... one complete solution.

In addition to Blu-ray Disc production, the Encoder can be used to produce DVD compatible .cpt encoded files using DTS Digital Surround at 48 kHz, 96 kHz encodes with DTS 96/24, or 6.1 discrete channel encodes with DTS-ES. These .cpt files can be imported directly into DVD Studio Pro.

The Encoder can also create 5.1 or 6.1 DTS .wav files for DTS Music Discs, which can be burned on a standard CD-R for playback on any DTS compatible system.
